Notice is given under the National Environmental Management Act (Act 107 of 1998) (as amended), the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Act (Act No.28 of 2002) (as amended) and the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act 59 of 2008) (as amended). Atoll Metal Recovery (Pty) Ltd (“Atoll”) intends to undertake an integrated Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) application process in terms of Section 24G(1) of NEMA, 2014 (as amended).
PROJECT SITE
The proposed site is 86.5 ha in extent and is located on Portion 1 of the Farm Modderfontein 76 IR with Surveyor General (SG) number T0IR00000000007600001, south of the N12 highway near New Modder and Rynsoord, west of Kingsway and north of Brakpan, Benoni, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipal, Gauteng Province.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS
The public participation process aims to provide Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) with information regarding the proposed project and will provide an opportunity to raise any issues or concerns. You are invited to review the draft Scoping Report (dSR) and comment on the document as part of the public participation process.
DRAFT SCOPING REPORT REVIEW AND COMMENT
The report will be available for review at the following public places:
- Atoll Metal Recovery Offices, R29 Main Reef Road, Benoni; and
- Draft Scoping Report for Review
The dSR is now available for review and comment as follows:
- 20 November 2023 – 15 January 2024 (30 calendar days)
