She is skilled in attracting, advancing, and managing new businesses within the energy, water and infrastructure sector. Driven to inspire other young women.

Professional Experience:

Lusani Madali holds a Master’s degree in Management: Energy Leadership from the University of Witwatersrand and has over eleven (11) years of experience developing renewable energy projects in Southern Africa. Having started her career as an Environmental Consultant for several renewable (solar & wind) energy projects in South Africa, she joined ACWA Power in 2014, an international company developing power and water projects. At ACWA Power, Lusani’s primary role was managing E&S during early project development, tender/bid stage and financial close. She progressed to become a Senior Business Development Manager. Under her management, ACWA Power was able to develop ten (10) hybrid Power plants comprising of 2000MW Photovoltaic (PV), 1500MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Internal 30MW Combustion Engines (ICE).

She single-handled the financial close lender’s Environmental & Social (E&S) due diligence for the ZAR11,6 billion Redstone 100MW Plant in Postmusburg, Northern Cape Province. The lender group for this project comprised of was the African Development Bank (AFDB), ABSA Bank, CDC Group, Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), Deutsche Investitions- and Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG), Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden (FMO), Investec Bank, Nedbank Limited, Sanlam Limited, and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC).

She held multiple roles, from being an E&S expert to managing various teams during project development, tender and/or bid phase, including financial close. In addition, she has participated in several government tenders under the REIPPPP and CBIPPPP programmes to which she has led and managed a team of experts. In the CBIPPP, she was the E&S manager from the development to bid award phase for the 450MW Khanyisa Coal-fired Power station, including the litigation process that halted the project. In 2021 she confounded multiple Dzimuzwo subsidiaries to participate in various energy, water and infrastructure value chain. In 2022, a consortium in which Dzimuzwo Energy is a shareholder was awarded a preferred bidder status under the REIPPPP BW6 to develop a 120MW Photovoltaic solar project in North-West Province, South Africa. She is highly skilled in developing renewable energy projects within a 360-degree view of the project-financed projects. She is accredited by the  Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA) as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) and the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNSP) as a Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sc.Nat.).
