PROPOSED MINING PERMIT FOR CROWN QUARRIES LOCATED ON A PORTION OF THE FARM HONINGNESTKRANS 269 JR LOCATED IN PRETORIA NORTH, CITY OF TSHWANE METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG PROVINCE SOUTH AFRICA

Notice is given in terms of Chapter 6 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations of 2014 (amended by GNR 326); Section 27 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act( Act 28 of 2002) and the National Environmental Management Act,1998(Act 107 of 1998 NEMA).

Nature of Activity: The applicant is making an application towards securing a Mining Permit for sand aggregates within the 5 ha of a portion of 269 of the Farm Honingnestkrans JR north of the Bon Accord dam, outside Pretoria North, Gauteng Province. The mining activities will entail the mining of sand and stone. The material will then be stockpiled and transported to clients using trucks via the existing access road linking the farm to the M35 main Road.

The mining method consists of loading and hauling. No crushing, screening, washing, and blasting will be necessary. Front-end loaders will conduct loading and hauling, and third parties will transport the product. Once the removal of economic material has been completed, the sites will be rehabilitated.

Environmental Impact Assessment process: Sections 24 and 24D of the National Environmental Management Act (Act 107 of 1998), read together with Government Notice R327 (as amended), a Basic Assessment (BA) process is required for Environmental Authorisation for Mining Permit Application.
